Miramar, Florida is located in Broward County. It is just a short drive from both Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The name of the city means "View of the Sea" in Spanish. A Cuban suburb of Havana is also named Miramar.

The city of Miramar was incorporated in the year 1955, when it was a small city of only 7.6 square km. Today it is a big city spread over 11.5 square km.
